Lucas Wildner
parent-teacher conferences
After twelve hours on campus
and twelve—only twelve—before my return,
of course it is your dad’s hand,
so careful
in its descent down my shirt, leaving unbuttoned
buttons in its wake,
as the drive home shakes me
free from the fantasy, fading the tufts
of his chest hair I stared at
while discussing your recent vocab quiz,
the possibility of extra credit
at the end of the semester.
Lucas Wildner lives in Seattle, where he is (slowly) repairing his relationships to English and German. Forthcoming and recent work can be found at Pidgeonholes Magazine, Homology Lit, Nice Cage, and elsewhere. On Twitter, sadly:Â @wucas_lildner.
